Behind the Scenes - Urban Beauty Shoot with Chrissa Wadlow

Today I had the pleasure of working with some of my favourite people in the film industry, Chrissa Wadlow of Light Films Ltd and Sophie Black of Triskelle Pictures.

Chrissa has always had an interest in photography and was keen to photograph one of her best friends daughters. Sophie and I were both thrilled when Chrissa asked us to come along and join her.

"Urban Beauty" is a working title full of interesting concepts and ideas that will be announced at a later date.

As for now you can read up about Sophie's involvement here

Free Crochet Bag Pattern

 photo BirdBagFreeCrochetPattern-planetmakeupblog_zpsad59f825.jpg

I wanted a quick project for a birthday present for a 3 year old. I found this crochet bag pattern at futuregirl. She uses the same pattern over and over as a blank canvas, adding new details each time to make each bag individual. They are gorgeous and I'm so tempted to make one for myself, as the options for personalisation are endless. I wanted to use a bird brooch, that I had previously made, as a decorative piece on the bag. I then stitched a simple branch pattern onto the bag for somewhere for the bird to sit. As you can see below futuregirl uses a crochet flower on her gorgeous sea foam coloured bag.

Futuregirl also shows you step by step and video instructions on how to add a lining to your bag. I didn't have time to line the bag, however, I have used this method for another crochet bag that I lined. I love Futuregirls hand stitched labels.

If you do decide to add a lining to your bag, furturegirl kindly shows you how to sew the lining into your bag. This is a great tutorial that I have used in the past for other crochet bag projects.

Oreo Truffle Brownies

These Brownies are insanely good! This is the perfect dessert to Wow your guests.

 photo OreoTruffleBrownies_zpsa6ed6c78.jpg

  • 1 cup of butter softened
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 packet of double stuffed Oreos
  • 4oz cream cheese, softened, add more as needed
  • 10oz cooking chocolate

  1. Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs and blend well. Add vanilla, salt, cocoa and flour. Don’t overbeat. Pour into a greased 9X13 pan. Bake at 350 F for 20-25 minutes. Allow to cool completely.
  2. While brownies are cooling, make Oreo truffle layer. Crush Oreos finely in a food processor or by putting them in a ziplock bag and smashing them until finely ground with a rolling pin. When Oreos are finely crushed, using hands (or a spoon, I just think hands are faster), mash softened cream cheese and crushed Oreos until well combined. Start with 4 oz and keep adding until desired consistency is reached. When Brownies have cooled completely, place layer of Oreo truffle on top.
  3. Melt dipping chocolate (you can use chocolate chips or other chocolate candy coating) and pour and spread evenly over the top of the Oreo truffle layer. Cover and put in fridge until set.
